Jw's and funerals

i have a thoughtful question.

when a jw dies and there is a funeral or memorial for them, just how much of that person is 'remembered" or talked about?

do they just have a funeral service for them, or do they turn the memorial into a wt study?

I have a thoughtful question. When a JW dies and there is a funeral or memorial for them, just how much of that person is 'remembered" or talked about? Do they just have a funeral service for them, or do they turn the memorial into a WT study?

I am seriously curious about this because my friend is going to a memorial for a JW and I'd like to compare a couple of things. I'd like to see if they infact do just stick to the person, the memories and such or do they just say a few "kind words" and move on to the Study?

1990 Adult Christians too can be disappointed, and this has in some cases led to spiritual disaster. Some set their hope on a date when they were sure Armageddon would come. When nothing happened on that day, they felt let down. (The Watchtower; 4/15/1990 ; p. 27)

okay, so in 1990 they were telling people they were hoping for too much on a date (that the WTS placed in peoples minds). Christians were disappointed and led to spiritual disaster and let down. Well if someone gave me a trip around the world and I was all packed up and ready to go and then they said "JUST KIDDING!" I would be disappointed and let down too.

then I noticed in 1992 They were still teaching about the elderly generation not passing?

So more hope and another let down?

Playing the guilt game

i just found out that my half-sister visited our 89 year old mother in a nursing home yesterday and told her that she should be getting out in service and to the meetings!!

i do so want to call her and tell her just what i feel about her and this cult of hers!!

i was a jw for 25 years and stopped going to the kh about 4 years ago.

I went into a Christian book store today!

they had this sale on cool coffee mugs and i just said damit i'm going in.

a jw lives just a few houses down.

It is! And I have never been one of them. I just worry that I will be treated like one (and be shuned) just for being in a Christian bookstore?

They may think of me as devils work or something.

I personally love going to christian book stores. They always have great deals on books. A $25 dollar book for $5? Always a plus. The music is great too.

However, a part of me sometimes gets an uneasy feeling when I am in there. I look around like someone is going to "catch" me. I have no reason not to be in there. I look around and sometimes buy things. Maybe I am worried that my friends or family who are in and are shopping next door will see me coming out and try to convince me with (their) reasons of why I shouldn't be in a Christian book store.

How to get a friend out of "the truth"

i'm sure threads along these lines have come up dozens of times in the past, but i'm not exactly sure how one would go about searching for this topic.. i was approached about a week ago by a girl named eve, with whom i share a mutual friend.

our friend is someone i knew when i was a witness, and is one of eve's close friends at school.

now, over the course of high school, eve has been trying to get her friend to realize the truth about the sham that the watchtower calls a religion.

" Tell her to compare the September Kingdom Ministry Question box to the article entitled "Do Not Be A Victim of Propaganda" in her June 22, 2000 Awake magazine. The Awake article will expose the KM question box's true purpose and thus reveal the truth about the WTS. If that fails, she will at least never forget having read it and it may pay off later in life! You can probably find a scan of the Sept. KM QB and maybe someone will have a scan of the Awake article as well on this website. BTW, comparing these two items was probably the primary thing that solidified all my doubts and got me started on my fade from that deceitful organization! " I heard this from somewhere. Does anyone have the comparision that is mentioned here?

Thank you to all who gave me nice words of encouragement. I think I kind of need this place. It may not have all the answers but it sure does have quiet a few. I may not have my prayers answered at the drop of a hat, but I know soon enough I will receive some answers that I may not necessary be looking for but may need.

Soon enough, I hope to fit in and become one of your family.

I guess that means that I will not be leaving here. Yet.

Hello everyone I'm writing this because I am taking a break from here for awhile. One reason is I do not feel welcomed. Everyone else just clicks with everyone else and I feel out of place. Maybe later I will come back, but until then, I will depart myself. No one was mean in anyway, just to set the record. This is such as small word I really don't feel comfortable with another user so close, being in the same library and not actually running into each other is too weird for my comfort. I read where they saw me. I have yet to see them. I'm sure they are a nice person. I'm just not ready to meet anyone yet. I hope you understand.

my question is the date of the memorial.

i do recall last years was in april (the date i cannot recall) i was wondering why this year is in march?

my great nephew, 8 months old, was killed yesterday.

so far appears to have been murdered by his sitter, a couple with whom my nephew and his girlfriend have been living.

they beat and drowned this little baby.
